Things to Do with Your Kids
Prepare Them for the New School Year
As summer begins winding down, many families start thinking about backpacks, school supplies, and busy morning routines. Preparing for a new school year is about much more than shopping. It is also an opportunity to help your child feel confident, excited, and ready to learn. One of the best ways to prepare is by gradually getting back into a school schedule. About two weeks before school starts, begin adjusting bedtime and wake-up times so your children aren't shocked by the early mornings. A well-rested child is often happier, more focused, and ready to learn. Take your children shopping for school supplies and let them have a say in choosing notebooks, folders, and backpacks. Giving them some responsibility helps build excitement for the upcoming year. Reading together is another great way to prepare. Even just twenty minutes a day can strengthen reading skills while creating meaningful family time. For older children, encourage them to read books related to subjects they'll be learning during the school year. Practice independence by allowing children to pack their own backpacks, organize their school materials, and prepare simple lunches with supervision. These small responsibilities build confidence and teach valuable life skills.
Talk openly about goals for the upcoming school year. Ask questions like:
- What are you excited about?
- What are you nervous about?
- Is there something new you'd like to learn?
These conversations help children feel heard and supported.
Don't forget to review school expectations such as kindness, respect, responsibility, and asking for help when needed. Role-playing different school situations can even help younger children practice social skills. Most importantly, make preparing for school fun. Have a family movie night, celebrate the last weekend of summer, or enjoy a special breakfast before the first day. Creating positive memories reminds children that school is not something to fear but another exciting adventure waiting to begin.

Helping Your Child Discover Their Future:
Preparing Them for Life as an Adult
One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is the confidence to dream about their future and the support to pursue those dreams. As parents, it's natural to wonder what our children will become when they grow up, but the truth is that they may not have all the answers right away, and that's okay. The journey of discovering a career or life path is one that takes time, exploration, and encouragement.
Start by having open and honest conversations with your child about their interests. Ask questions like, "What subjects do you enjoy in school?" or "If you could spend all day doing one thing, what would it be?" These discussions can reveal passions that may eventually lead to future careers. Some children may love science, while others are drawn to art, technology, helping people, or building things with their hands.
Encourage your child to try different activities. Sports, music, coding clubs, volunteering, theater, robotics, and community programs all expose them to new skills and experiences. They might discover a talent they never knew they had or realize that something they thought they wanted is not actually the right fit. Every experience teaches valuable lessons.
It's also helpful to introduce children to a wide variety of careers. Many kids only know about occupations they see every day, such as teachers, doctors, police officers, or firefighters. Share information about careers in engineering, skilled trades, health care, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, graphic design, environmental science, aviation, and many other fields. Watching documentaries, attending career fairs, or talking with professionals can make these possibilities feel real and exciting.
As children grow older, teach practical life skills alongside career planning. Learning how to manage money, write a résumé, communicate professionally, prepare for interviews, and solve problems independently can build confidence regardless of the career they choose. These skills will benefit them throughout adulthood.
Remember that your role is to guide rather than decide. While it's natural to have hopes for your child's future, allowing them to explore their own interests helps them develop independence and self-confidence. Celebrate effort and curiosity instead of focusing only on achievements or grades.
One of the most meaningful things you can do is model lifelong learning. Let your child see you reading, learning new skills, setting goals, or working toward personal growth. When children observe adults embracing challenges and continuing to learn, they often feel inspired to do the same.
Most importantly, reassure your child that it's perfectly normal not to have everything figured out. Many successful adults changed careers or discovered their passions later in life. The goal isn't to have a perfect plan at a young age but to develop the confidence to keep learning and adapting.
Helping your child prepare for adulthood is about more than choosing a job. It's about nurturing curiosity, resilience, responsibility, and a willingness to explore the world. With your support, encouragement, and belief in their abilities, your child can step into the future with confidence and excitement for the opportunities ahead.

What It’s Really Like
Being a Boy Mom
Being a boy mom is loud, chaotic, hilarious, exhausting, and somehow one of the sweetest experiences all at the same time. Before having my boys, I truly underestimated just how much energy tiny humans could have. It is like raising a group of WWE wrestlers mixed with snack loving comedians who somehow destroy your clean house in under ten minutes.
One thing about boys is they are always hungry. You can spend hundreds on groceries and somehow two days later there is nothing left except bread ends and random condiments in the fridge. The amount of snacks boys can eat should honestly be studied scientifically.
Then there is the noise level. Between video games, wrestling matches, random sound effects, and yelling conversations across the house, silence becomes suspicious. If it gets too quiet, every boy mom immediately knows something is probably broken somewhere.
And let us talk about video games. Somehow your own children can roast you harder than strangers online. You try to bond with them by playing a game and within five minutes they are laughing because your character walked into a wall or got eliminated instantly. The disrespect is truly unmatched.
But being a boy mom is also full of moments people do not talk about enough. Boys can be incredibly affectionate, protective, funny, and thoughtful. Even the roughest, loudest child can suddenly turn into the sweetest little person when they hug you randomly or tell you they love you out of nowhere.
There is also something special about watching their personalities develop. One may love sports, another may love gaming, another may constantly crack jokes all day long. Boys often express emotions differently, but they still need comfort, support, attention, and reassurance just as much as anyone else.
Being a boy mom also means learning to let go of perfection. Your furniture may get jumped on. Your house may never stay clean for long. Someone may always smell slightly like outside mixed with socks. At some point, you just accept the chaos and laugh through it.
Social media sometimes romanticizes motherhood in unrealistic ways, but real parenting is messy. It is yelling “stop flipping off the couch” while simultaneously feeling emotional because your babies are growing too fast.
The truth is being a boy mom is not always easy, but it is never boring. It is a front row seat to adventure, noise, laughter, learning, and unconditional love.
And even though they clown us during video games, eat us out of house and home, and somehow leave cups in every room, we would not trade those boys for anything in the world.

Healthy Snacks
Kids Will Actually Eat This Summer
If your kids are anything like mine, summer turns into an endless cycle of “I’m hungry” every 20 minutes. Finding snacks that are both affordable and somewhat healthy can feel impossible sometimes, especially when kids seem determined to survive on chips and sugary drinks alone. The good news is healthy snacks don’t have to be complicated, expensive, or boring. Sometimes simple options work best.
One easy trick is making snacks feel fun. Kids are way more likely to eat fruit when it’s colorful, frozen, or served differently than usual. Fruit kabobs, yogurt parfaits, or smoothie popsicles can instantly make healthier foods more exciting.
Here are some simple snack ideas kids usually enjoy:
- Frozen grapes
- Apple slices with peanut butter
- Cheese cubes and crackers
- Yogurt with granola
- Homemade popcorn
- Watermelon slices
- Veggies with ranch dip
- Smoothies
- Trail mix
- Banana peanut butter roll-ups
Buying snacks in bulk can also save a lot of money during summer break. Stores like Aldi, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Costco can help stretch your grocery budget when kids are home all day eating everything in sight.
Another helpful tip is creating a snack station kids can access themselves. Using bins in the fridge or pantry with pre-portioned snacks can cut down on constant kitchen raids and help kids make easier choices independently.
Hydration is also important during the summer months. Instead of loading up on sugary juices and sodas, try:
- Fruit infused water
- Homemade lemonade
- Low sugar electrolyte drinks
- Smoothies
- Frozen fruit ice cubes in water
Remember, balance matters more than perfection. Your kids do not need organic Pinterest perfect lunches every day to be healthy. Some days survival mode wins, and that’s okay too.
Summer should feel enjoyable, not stressful. Keeping snacks simple, affordable, and realistic can make life easier for everyone while still helping your family eat a little better during those long summer days.

Winter Family Activities on a Budget
Winter Family Activities on a Budget
Winter is a beautiful time to slow down, bundle up, and enjoy meaningful moments with family. Even though the weather is colder and the days are shorter, there are still plenty of fun and affordable activities to enjoy together. January is the perfect month to create memories without overspending.
One of my favorite winter activities is movie night. A cozy blanket fort, warm pajamas, popcorn, and a good family movie turn an ordinary evening into a special event. It costs almost nothing and brings everyone together. These simple moments often become the memories children hold onto forever.
Cooking together is another great activity. Whether it is baking cookies, making homemade pizza, or preparing warm winter soups, cooking as a family allows everyone to participate. It teaches kids responsibility while giving us quality time together. Plus, it keeps them busy on cold days when outdoor play is limited.
Family game nights are another winter favorite. Board games, cards, or even scavenger hunts indoors bring out laughter and teamwork. These activities remind children that fun does not always require screens or going out.
If the weather allows, going for winter walks can be refreshing. The air is crisp, the world is quieter, and it becomes an opportunity for conversation and connection. Walking together also boosts everyone’s mood and energy.
Craft days are perfect for winter as well. From painting to creating vision boards, crafting keeps children focused and creative. It also gives them a sense of accomplishment when they see their finished work.
Budget friendly activities do not require luxury. They require creativity, intention, and love. Winter becomes a season of bonding, joy, and unforgettable moments when we make the most of what we already have.

Choose Intentional Parenting
Why I Choose Intentional Parenting During the Holiday Season
The holiday season can be magical, but it can also be noisy, fast, and overwhelming. That is why I choose to practice intentional parenting during this time of year. Everything moves so quickly that it is easy to get caught up in the chaos and forget what truly matters. My children look to me for guidance and emotional stability, and I try to give them that through every decision I make.
Intentional parenting for me begins with presence. The holidays bring extra tasks and responsibilities, but I remind myself that my children will not remember the perfectly wrapped gifts. They will remember the moments we shared together. They will remember laughter in the kitchen, playing games, or simply spending time together. I choose presence over perfection every time.
I also stay mindful of their emotions. The holidays can overstimulate children with all the excitement, sugar, lights, and noise. Instead of reacting with frustration, I try to understand what they are feeling and guide them through it calmly. Intentional parenting means being aware of the emotional environment and making choices that support their mental and emotional health.
Another part of intentional parenting is teaching them values. Gratitude, kindness, patience, and giving to others become natural lessons during this season. Instead of focusing only on receiving, I guide them toward appreciating what they already have and being mindful of others who may have less.
I also try to create meaningful traditions that build connection. Whether we bake together, read holiday stories, or have quiet evenings at home, I want my children to grow up with memories rooted in love and togetherness. These traditions shape who they become and how they will eventually raise their own children.
Intentional parenting also means protecting their peace. I do not force them into every school or holiday activity if it becomes too much. I give them room to rest, breathe, and enjoy the season without feeling stressed.
Choosing intentional parenting during the holidays allows our family to experience December with clarity, joy, and genuine connection. It reminds me that I am shaping their childhood one thoughtful choice at a time.

Christmas Movies to Watch with the Family, with Kid and Budget Friendly Meals
Spending time with family during the Christmas holidays is more than a tradition. It is a chance to slow down, reconnect, and create memories that last long after the decorations are packed away. Life moves quickly and the holiday season gives families permission to pause and enjoy moments that truly matter. Whether it is gathering around the living room in cozy pajamas or sharing laughter over a warm meal, these small moments strengthen the bonds that hold a family together.
Holiday movies make this time even more special. There is something magical about curling up together to watch classic Christmas films that spark joy in every age group. Movies create shared experiences and inside jokes and they often become part of a family’s yearly tradition. Children remember the excitement of watching their favorite characters while adults appreciate the nostalgia these films bring. A simple movie night can turn into an evening filled with conversation, laughter and closeness that families sometimes miss during the busyness of everyday life.
Pairing these movie nights with simple meals also adds comfort and ease. No one wants to be stuck in the kitchen for hours during a time meant for connection. A warm pot of chili, a sheet pan of baked chicken and potatoes, or even quick grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup can turn a regular night into a cozy family gathering. These meals are budget friendly and require little planning which allows everyone to stay relaxed and present. The focus stays where it belongs which is on spending quality time together.
The Christmas season offers families a beautiful opportunity to build traditions that grow year after year. A good movie, a simple meal and the presence of loved ones will always be the heart of the holidays.

OH, WE GOT IT! HOT CHOCOLATE
Creating a Holiday Hot Chocolate Station at Home
There is something magical about walking into your home during the holidays and being greeted by the smell of rich chocolate, whipped cream and cozy warmth. Creating a hot chocolate station in your home is a simple way to bring that magic to life while giving your family and guests a fun and delicious treat to look forward to every day. A hot chocolate station becomes more than just a drink corner. It creates a sense of togetherness, warmth and tradition that everyone can enjoy throughout the season.
One of the biggest benefits of having a hot chocolate station is how it naturally encourages quality time. Children love customizing their drinks with marshmallows and sprinkles, and adults enjoy a sweet moment to unwind after long days of shopping, cleaning and preparing for holiday gatherings. It becomes an instant mood booster and a great conversation starter. Visitors will feel welcomed and loved when they see the inviting setup waiting for them. It also adds charm and personality to your home decor, making your kitchen or dining area feel festive and joyful.
Creating your station is easy and can be done with items you already have at home or with a few inexpensive additions. Start with a designated area like a small table or a section of your counter. Add festive mugs or holiday themed cups. Include a container for hot chocolate mix or homemade cocoa. Add toppings such as marshmallows, chocolate chips, crushed peppermint, sprinkles and caramel drizzle. Keep spoons, stirring sticks and napkins nearby for convenience. You can also include flavored syrups, whipped cream and even holiday cookies to make it extra special. Decorate with a small garland, a holiday sign or a warm scented candle to tie everything together.
A home hot chocolate station is a small touch that brings joy, comfort and holiday spirit to your family all season long.

What I am Thankful For.
As I take a moment to breathe, reflect, and look around at everything unfolding in my life, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. This season reminds me to slow down and truly appreciate the blessings that surround me every single day. Life is not always perfect, but even in the moments of chaos and challenges, I find myself grateful for the path I am on and the strength that keeps me moving forward. Today, I want to honor those blessings and acknowledge everything I am truly thankful for.
I am thankful for the ability to take care of my children, not just in the basic ways but in the meaningful everyday moments. Being present for them, guiding them, supporting their dreams, and shaping them into strong and loving human beings is a privilege I do not take lightly. My children are my greatest motivation and knowing that I can provide for them and walk with them through every stage of their journey fills my heart with purpose.
One of the biggest milestones this year has been publishing our very first children’s book. It still feels unreal to say it out loud. Becoming an author with my kids by my side is something I will cherish forever. It represents teamwork, commitment, and the courage to chase a dream together. I am even more grateful knowing this is only the beginning, with many more books and creative projects to come. Having the inspiration and determination to continue writing fuels me in a way I can’t fully describe.
I am also thankful for the blessing of being able to take care of our home. Creating a safe, loving environment for my children means everything. It is where memories are made, laughter echoes, and love grows. It is where my kids are learning responsibility, discipline, and kindness. Keeping them on the right path is not always easy, but being present to guide them is one of the greatest gifts I have.
I am extremely grateful for the ability to stay home and attend everything my kids have going on, from school events to after school activities. Being present for their achievements, their excitement, and even their struggles is something many parents wish they could do. I do not take that opportunity for granted.
I am thankful for the motivation and the time I found within myself to begin writing on my blog again. Reconnecting with my passion for storytelling and reflection has brought me peace, direction, and renewed creativity. It feels good to pour into something that also pours back into me.
I am grateful for the energy and determination to get back into running, participating in 5K runs, and choosing to work out for my health. Taking care of my body and mind is an act of self love that I am proud of, and I am thankful for the discipline to keep going.
Most of all, I am thankful for growth, for blessings seen and unseen, and for the journey that continues to unfold beautifully.
I will continue to pray to God that he continues to bless my little family.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Children, Giving Magic, Meaning & Memories
Embracing the children in your life with Christmas gifts is one of the most joyful ways to create lasting memories and strengthen the bond you share with them. The holiday season brings a special kind of magic that children experience with their whole hearts. When you take the time to choose a gift that fits their personality and interests, you are not just giving them something to unwrap. You are giving them a moment of wonder and a reminder that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved.
Children thrive on imagination and play, and Christmas gifts give them the tools to grow, explore, and dream. Toys are more than simple entertainment. They help build creativity, confidence, and curiosity. A well-chosen toy becomes a part of their world. It becomes something they use to express themselves and better understand the world around them.
1. Educational Toys
STEM kits, art sets, or reading bundles make learning fun. Their importance lies in shaping creativity and building confidence.
2. Personalized Books
A story where your child becomes the main character makes reading magical. These gifts boost self-esteem and nurture a love for storytelling.
3. Active Play Gear
Bikes, scooters, or jump ropes encourage outdoor fun. The importance: helping kids stay active while learning teamwork and adventure.
4. Keepsake Gifts
A custom ornament, photo book, or memory box captures special moments. These sentimental gifts become part of their childhood story.
The beauty of gifting children at Christmas is not found in how much you spend but in how much thought you put into choosing something that brings joy to their heart. Every thoughtful gift is a moment of love they will remember long after the decorations come down.

Family Authors, Working With My Boys!!
Our Journey to “Reladiana the Little Ninja” A Dream We Wrote Together
Writing and releasing our very first children’s book, Reladiana The Little Ninja, has been nothing short of an emotional roller coaster. As a mom, watching my boys and I bring a story to life together has been one of the proudest and most surreal experiences of my life. What started as a simple bedtime idea quickly turned into late nights filled with imagination, laughter, and sometimes, frustration but always love.
There were days when the words flowed easily and we could see the story vividly, the playgrounds, the ninjas, the lessons about courage and kindness. And then there were other days when the blank page felt like a wall we couldn’t climb. Between school, work, and life’s everyday chaos, finding time to write as a family wasn’t always easy. But every setback reminded us why we started: to create something magical that represents our creativity, our family bond, and our dreams.
We laughed a lot during this process. My boys’ ideas were wild, fearless, and full of heart. They challenged me to see the world through their eyes. Eyes that are so full of wonder, energy, and endless possibilities. And that’s what Reladiana The Little Ninja became: a story about bravery, self-belief, and the power of being different, just like the little heroes we’re raising.
The day we held the printed copy in our hands for the first time, it hit differently. All the long nights, edits, and moments of doubt were worth it. Seeing our names on the cover wasn’t just about becoming authors, it was about showing my boys that their ideas matter, their voices are powerful, and their dreams are valid.
This book is more than just pages and pictures. It’s our story, one written with patience, perseverance, and purpose. We hope Reladiana The Little Ninja inspires families everywhere to dream together, create together, and never give up, no matter how hard the journey feels.
Here’s to the start of something we enjoy doing together and will continue to do. We would like to share with you our first but not last book, from our hearts to your bookshelf.
Reladiana The Little Ninja is available now on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
